Second Life is a online 3D world with more than 7 million members. Several virtual libraries have been set up within Second Life, including the SecondLife Library 2.0, Caledon Branch Library, Teen Library, Consumer Health Library, and Medical Library. The purpose of the SLL2 Cataloging Group is to create a catalog system that can be used to provide access to the resources of the Second Life libraries. The group's correspondence can be found here

Contact Geekster Sugarbeet if you need additional information about the group.

Here is the list of resources I received from Abbey Zenith. These appear to be mostly links to out-world resources, so we still have a list of in-world resources to create (sigh!)
I don't know which of these resources are in the SLQuery infoboxes and which aren't - I may need to pester Damek to see if we can find out what's what.
The pages are not pretty - I'm simply copying & pasting from the doc. - If anyone wants to spend time tidying them up, you are welcome to do so.

'Virtual Stores' on the Web raise a myriad of traditional legal controversies in a new forum: the battle of the forms among purchasers and sellers; jurisdictional concerns and conflict-of-law problems; and the enforceability of contracts. This wide-ranging article analyzes law regarding these issues, with particular emphasis on the U.C.C. http://www.sandiego.edu/usdlaw/about/publications/journals/lawreview/issues/index.php?vol=34&issue=3 (text not on web site)

Sayle, Amber Jene, Notes and Comments, Net Nation and the Digital Revolution: Regulation of Offensive Material for an New Community, 18 Wisconsin International Law Journal 257 (2000) Abstract: Most governments are just now realizing how little real control they have over the Internet, and how ineffective are the sporadic attempts to regulate its content. Nations have diverse opinions on a number of fundamental concepts such as politics, religion, and so on, and because of this diversity, the intent behind many national laws, which regulate content on the Internet, is ruined. This Article focuses on the problems with the current state of regulation of the Internet, application of current law to the Web, e-mail, and chat rooms. It provides the history and the nature of the Web and presents a detailed description of three widely divergent national regulations of the Web (Germany, the United States, and Japan), regulation of child pornography. The Article analyzes and critiques the current regulation efforts and discusses possible outcomes of the continuation of current policies (specifically, why international regulation will be unsuccessful). This Article concludes with a suggestion, the Net Nation: an international agreement which would allow a guiding, unified. Net law to take precedence in disputes arising from on-line content between citizens from different nations or, in criminal proceedings, between one nation and citizens from a different nation. http://www.law.wisc.edu/students/wilj/ (text not available on site)

Stephens, Molly Note, Sales of In-Game Assets: An Illustration of the Continuing Failure of Intellectual Property Law to Protect Digital-Content Creators, 80 Tex. L. Rev. 1513 (2002) Abstract:: Massively multi-player, online games have become more than just entertainment for players who have sold their characters and in-game assets to other players for thousands of dollars. These asset sales do not have the approval of the game developers, however, and some developers have attempted to ban asset sales by asserting copyright infringement. This Note analyzes the validity of the developers infringement assertions and explores potential intellectual property theories that protect players who sell their assets. http://www.utexas.edu/law/journals/tlr/abstracts/Volume%2080/Stephens.htm (text not available on site)
