New Projects:
- Bryan Carter, a teacher at Central Missouri State University has just received funding to do a replica of Harlem in the 20s. He has asked us for help with building the library and services like a New York public branch in the 20s. We are setting up a meeting with him and Lorelei will post it to the group for anyone interested.
- Jeremy Kabumpo is the first full-time employee in the California State University System dedicated to Second Life. He has a team of eight graduate students on the project and they are running a Second Life skills class in the summer at the School of Library and Information Sciences – 1800 full time students. Their island is kitty-corner from Info Island. Jeremy Kabumpo’s mandate is to serve the community here - to build a learning community.
- HVX Silverstar is going to start a machinima library on Arts Island that includes developing a 10 week continuing ed course. She will need a lot of help so that we can let the community know how machinima will fit for instruction, marketing and outreach. Machinima is a portmanteau, as many of you may already know, for machine + cinema or animation. We have built into our SL browsers the capabilities for becoming filmmakers.
- Four tours are scheduled this week – dates on the Google Calendar. Thanks to Jilliana and Rosmarita for coordinating & conducting!
- New Media Consortium has a weekly program called Teacher's Buzz. Each week there is an informal one-hour chat on a different topic and leader. Contact Lori to set up something similar on Info Island.

When everything is ready to go there *will* be an interruption of all infoisland.org services while the new location propagates through the domain name space (DNS). Ade be sure to give everyone warning well in advance. Links will NOT change:
