Description:
A young adult historical fiction novel by the American author Avi that was published in 1990. It takes place during the transatlantic crossing of a ship from England to America in the 19th century. The book chronicles the evolution of the title character as she is pushed outside of her naive existence and learns about life aboard a ship. The novel was well received and won several awards, including as a Newberry Honor book. Presented live in voice by Caledonia Skytower.

Having a robot in the house is the latest craze, and the Weston family basks in the glory and prestige of owning Robbie, who they put to work as the perfect nanny for their daughter. But as the fad fades and anti-robot sentiment begins to grow, Gloria’s mother begins to fear not Robbie, but the opinions of the neighbours. Gloria, however, is not going to give up on her loyal robot friend so easily. First published in Sept. 1940 as Strange Playfellow, Robbie was the first of Isaac Asimov’s positronic robot stories to be published. Story in voice.
