 Reference News:

At the suggestion of one of our creative reference volunteers, we have just upgraded on-line services in the Reference Area on Info Island by replacing the bank of monitors on the east wall with a single large-screen viewer.  People who are using a SL viewer that supports Media On A Prim (MOAP) can display web resources on the screen for easy viewing and for sharing with others in the area. Those without MOAP can access the same resources through their browsers. All of the resources in the old monitors are in the new system plus (1) a collection of instructional SL video tutorials and (2) on-line language translation services.  The language translators should prove useful as Google's Translation API, which supports most translators in SL viewers and HUDs, becomes unavailable on December 1.  The system also gives users the option of entering a URL of their choice.

To use the new online reference system, click on either the "Display on Screen" or "Display in Browser" button to enter the menu system.  You may also need to click the screen to refresh it.

A Tribute to St. Andrew’s Day and MacBeth! With Caledoniaand Kayden

Where: Seanchai Library

http://slurl.com/secondlife/Imagination%20Island/46/211/28

The Seanchai Library celebrates St Andrew's Day (patron Saint of Scotland) witha twist, presenting selections from Shakespeare's The Tragedy of MacBeth (generallyknown simply as Macbeth). While inspired by accounts from Scottish history in Holinshed's Chronicles(1587), which would have been know to Shakespeare in his day, the events of thestory actually have little relationship to their actual historicalcounterparts.  MacBeth is lessabout scotlandand more a study of ambition, fate, and consequences.  It is Shakespeare'sshortest tragedy, and is considered by many critics to be his most economicallyand tightly woven tale.  Selections from MacBeth will bepresented in voice by Kayden Oconnell and Caledonia Skytower.
